Ecofibra fiberglass poles. Perfect for street lighting designs.

Ecofibra’s FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Plastic) poles are ideal for application in places such as highways, parking lots, squares, interchanges, gated communities and streets. Thanks to its high strength and durability, the fiberglass pole has been widely used in urban areas that are subject to aggressive agents such as pollutants and acid rain.

The advantages of FRP poles go beyond. They are a more efficient option when compared to metal or concrete poles. In terms of safety, FRP poles are less likely to have electrical accidents since fiberglass has low conductivity. Hence, even if it contains wires with insulation problems, a pole made with this material does not cause electric shock. Even if a car crashes into a FRP pole, the damage to the vehicle and passengers will be significantly lower.

As FRP poles are 10 times lighter than concrete poles, this substantially simplifies logistics and installation. The product can be transported in smaller vehicles and can even reach communities far away from urban centers. In addition, its high mechanical strength means that there is almost no need for maintenance and the fact that it has no metals in its composition makes our poles immune to corrosion.

When analyzing all the costs involved from manufacturing, transport, installation and maintenance, FRP poles show an incomparable cost/benefit ratio for application in public lighting works. Over the years we have developed public lighting solutions for dozens of city halls and highway utility companies throughout Brazil.

Immune to corrosion

Fiberglass poles are completely inert and immune to any type of chemical corrosion (salt water, H2S), generic, galvanic, intergranular or graphitic corrosion that affect metal and concrete poles.

Low maintenance requirement

The external finishing surface is composed of a thermosetting resin-based layer with a UV-A and UV-B inhibitor and anti-flame protection, which gives poles excellent resistance to aging.

Easy transport and installation logistics

As FRP poles are 10 times lighter than concrete poles, this substantially simplifies logistics and installation, making them ideal for coastal regions and hard-to-reach areas.

Lower risk of electrical accidents

Fiberglass has low electrical conductivity. Hence, even if it contains wires with insulation problems, a pole made with this material does not cause electric shock. Even if a car crashes into a FRP pole, the damage to the vehicle and passengers will be significantly lower.

Lightweight and extremely durable

FRP poles are 10 times lighter than concrete poles, are a quarter the weight of steel, and are 25% lighter than aluminum. In terms of life cycle, composites can last more than 50 years.
